Halo 5 Preview
So we're into the month of October. The leaves are changing, the weather is getting cooler, women in yoga pants are buying anything pumpkin-spiced they can get their hands on. But none of that is as important as what happens October 27th. Halo 5: Guardians comes out! I've told you guys a million times that I wish I still played video games, but alas I do not. What I DO have is a network of awesome people who are my team of geeky agents. My GGR-Secret Service, if you will. Highly trained assassins who can kill.....wait....no...sorry, I got excited for a second, none of that is true. What I DO have is friends and colleagues who love to share their geekdom with all. Today we have Fonse, a co-worker of mine giving us the skinny on what we know about Halo 5: Guardians.
Halo 5: Guardians is the 7th game in the Halo Franchise (Not including Halo Wars, that THING was a disaster IMO). I’ve loved this series since its start on Xbox. It was my first game on the console, and playing as a super soldier who kicks alien ass is not a bad way to start.
The series was fantastic. Halo 2 and Halo 3 both great games in their own right, and both Reach and ODST. The original producers of the Halo franchise, Bungie, stopped making Halo games after the 3rd installment. At first, I was worried when 343 took over on Halo 4 but they delivered a great game.
Halo 5 looks like it will not disappoint, either. The story as we know so far: The UNSC is claiming the Master Chief has died. In secret, they believe he and BLUE TEAM, the last SPARTAN-II’s have gone rogue (Blue team is Kelly, Fred, and Linda...but you would only known this if you read the books, too).
Fire Team Osiris led by Spartan IV- Locke is hunting them down (the rest of the team consists of Vale, Tanaka and Buck. You might remember him from ODST, when he was played by NATHAN FILLION! He did all the voice acting and mo-cap for this game, too!).
The cool part is you will be able to play as both teams throughout the campaign and we will truly see if Chief has gone crazy over the loss of Cortana or if something else more sinister is going on. I know I am excited to see how it all plays out! October 27th cant' come soon enough!
Fonse is from Massachusetts so he amuses Mike at work when he says words like arm, yard, car and party. He is an avid gamer and we hope to hear more from him here at GGR!
