Final Fantasy VII Remake????

by Mike W Lunsford

So I noticed we had this new Geek Sheet thing and saw some of the things Andy and Pete wrote and thought, "I want to voice my opinion about news in the Geek World in small, easy to read pieces, too!"

Holy crap guys! Tell me you saw the big news! Not just big news, HUGE news!

OHMIGOD OHMIGOD OHMIGOD, tell me it's NEW GAME! TELL ME IT'S NEW GAME!!!!!!

OHMIGOD OHMIGOD OHMIGOD, tell me it's NEW GAME! TELL ME IT'S NEW GAME!!!!!!

If you haven't seen the video, take a gander now and see what I'm talking about.

The impossible dream, the great crown jewel in every RPG fans' crown, Final Fantasy VII is finally getting a High Definition remake!!!! It's arguably the greatest RPG of all time, if not one of the greatest games of all time. It turned yours truly from an only-plays-sports-and-side-scrollers gamer into an RPG fan. For crying out loud, this game was so amazing that when I started this website, I referenced how much of an impact the game had on me! (read for yourself)

I was talking to Ben Shaw about this last night and we both laughed because of our experience working in the video game industry. At various points, we both worked for a large video game retailer and got to go to their convention to show us all of the new products. Sony would do tech demos for their new systems showing the intro to Final Fantasy VII! People would get excited! Rumors would be spread quickly! Then we would check the schedule to see when we were going to get to the Square Enix presentation and get giddy as it got closer and closer. Ben and I also reminisced  about how on one of these trips, we decided to cross Interstate 10 in Vegas on foot just to get to an In-N-Out Burger.

If you've never been to an In-N-Out Burger, don't judge us. If you HAVE, you know you would have done the same in our shoes.

EVERY TIME we went to Square Enix's presentation, someone would eventually ask about the Final Fantasy VII remake. The presenters would roll their eyes and answer, as diplomatically as possible, that there are no plans to do a remake any time soon. WHY WOULD YOU LET SONY DO A TECH DEMO THAT FEATURES YOUR GAME AND KNOW THAT WE WOULD ALL THINK THAT MEANT A NEW GAME????!?!?!?! There's a term for this...the movie Grown-Ups referred to it as a "hose-teaser."

Terrance: Hose-teaser is a classic Canadian insult. One of our favorites, eh Philip? Philip: That's right, Terrance! If that was offensive to you, we're sorry aboot that. How aboot some french fries and gravy? PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!…

 Ahhh...the classics never get old.

None of that matters now. All the broken hearts were worth it as we see Barrett and Cloud walking down the street, ready to fight Shinra and then...the one-winged angel himself...Sephiroth.

Now, there are lots of other big announcements from E-3, but I'm going to keep my mouth shut....Except for the trailer I saw for Star Wars Battlefront! HOLY SH**! I might have to get a PS4!!! IT'S LIKE CALL OF DUTY: HOTH! *AHEM* Anyways...We got plans for E-3 coming soon. Stay tuned :-D
