Hokies Fans: Don't Panic

In the words of Frank the Tank from Old School, “We gotta keep our composure! We’ve come too far!” I am not going to sugar coat this: the Hokies are not playing well at all. Our defense is full of holes like a piece of Swiss cheese. The offense has flashes of competency and then the next drive can’t complete a pass or run the ball. I know many Hokies fans want throw in the towel and give up, but like Lee Corso, noted unquestioned Hokie fan says, “not so fast my friends!”

Hokies fans knew coming into 2018 that this would be a hard season. We had an extremely rough preseason, lost plenty of players to the NFL draft and even had to suspend a few players. Yes, we have performed terrible thus far but let’s take a breath and see where we are.

We have 3  games left in the season. Those games are against Pitt, Miami, and UVA.  If we win out we will still be in the ACC championship. If we win against Pitt and UVA, we could still be in the ACC championship but the chances are much lower. If we win 2 of the 3 but don’t get some help, we will still be in business to keep the bowl game streak alive without the ACC Championship shot.

The season hasn’t been great but we can still salvage something. The Hokies need to stop committing stupid penalties, take advantage of points off of turnovers, and be disciplined on defense. The team is still very young and I see a ton of potential for the years to come.

So Hokies fans, keep cheering on your team! These young guys are still working hard in every game.

Also, on a side note, like the Hokies, I have not been executing when comes to getting these articles out to the GGR community. Well, like my Hokies, I will be finishing the college football season strong. Get ready for some pretty spectacular articles in the weeks to come!

Editor’s note: Jonathan Gillespie is the father of a young son and just got a new job so we here at GGR forgive him for lacking content this College Football season. We still love Big J! Go Hokies!
